I've been thinking about a new site. But, I could never keep up two sites (so if you picked 'other' in the poll, please don't post saying do both in separate sites).
Personally, I like the new idea better. It's more original than this and might attract more members. But if I do change the site, I know some people might leave, especially because the new idea has a lot of features that might seem complicated.
PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE POST before making a decision. I know it's long, but please do so ^^
The new site would be Precious Lives Cattery instead of Precious Lives Adoptables, so no wolves or dragons, but maybe they might be released once in a while as a special treat.
So, what are these changes? Well, this is an idea of what will be possible. Although I still have to check to see if I can do all this in the first place.
#1 - Adoptable will not be growable with clicks. They will grow over time, however, not like CS adoptables. Instead of growing on, say, the 10th day you own it, they will grow on, example, 10th day the adoptable was released. So all of them grow together, and if someone adopts it it will be grown when they do. However, they'll still be clickable and clicks do help with other things, keep on reading to find out what :3
#2 - different 'levels' of adoptables. Instead of getting adoptables from the same place, you will still get them from the adopt page, but there will be 3 or more different kinds available:
Shelter - this cat (I'm referring to them as cats because that's what they'll be) can only be adopted once by one player. That means, if Jack the Tabby is released, the first person to adopt it is the only person to do so. However, the same kind will be released again. They're free, cannot enter in competitions (read on), have no stats (read on), are usually grown up, and are common breeds. Only released every once in a while at random (sorta like the Pound on CS, I honestly wasn't trying to copy the pound, but this idea came to mind once I thought of shelter, and it stuck, then I noticed how alike they are).
Shop - this cat can enter in agility competitions only and have average stats, however has 0 show stats. They are usually only uncommon breeds. They can come at any stage. You have to pay to adopt, but they're not extremely expensive.
Breeder - this cat can enter in agility and show competitions. Comes in many exotic breeds and variations. Has average show and agility stats. They are expensive to adopt.
#3 - Money is earned through a variety of actions. Clicking, for one, but also winning competitions, selling your cats, selling items, and winning contests.
#4 - Competitions will be available. There will be 2 types, but each cat can only enter in one:
Cat agility - cats need to be trained in agility, speed, strength, and obedience. Other things that give you advantages are stats in other areas (very low advantage), previous wins (high advantage), previous agility competitions (low advantage), and more clicks (average advantage). Cat agility is a real sport, it involves cats going through an obstacle course with speed, as well as accuracy, lead by their owners.
Cat shows - cats need to be trained in groom, obedience, poise, and charm. Other things that give you advantages are stats in other areas (very low advantage), previous wins (high advantage), previous show competitions (low advantage), more clicks (average advantage), and cat type (average advantage).
Cats participating in these can only be bought from the shop (for agility) and from the breeder for both.
#5 - Training to win competitions. This is sort of like an RP, you need to make a thread in the correct section of the forums (will be updated). Choose one area to 'train' in, and RP with your cat about how the training went. Training must be at least 3 posts, at least 5 sentences per post. You can train your cat in the following areas:
Poise, groom, agility, strength, obedience, charm, speed
When you buy your cat they should have one or two stat points already. ALWAYS keep track of their points. I will always check to make sure you're being fair.
#6 - Selling. If you've built your cat's stats up, but don't want it anymore, you can sell it with another player. When you two make an agreement to sell, PM me, the person selling their cat must fill out a form, delete (kill) the pet. Then, I will PM the person receiving the cat a promo code. They will get the exact cat they wanted, since you're keeping track of the stats just keep the ones the cat had. Finally, the money will be added to the other player's account.
All clicks will be reset once you sell a pet. This will be the form for selling a pet:
URL:
picture:
how it was acquired: (shop, breeder, shelter)
stats:
competitions won/entered:
Also, if you have a post of all your cats, along with their stats, you need to remove the cat from your post before cash will be added to your account.
#7 - Items. Items don't actually do anything, however, you can sell them away as well.
#8 - Breeding - pets with higher stats will produce offspring with higher stats. You can breed with someone else's pet if they give you permission. Sometimes you can choose conditions such as 'I get first pick of kittens" or "you have to pay me x money". Promo codes will be PM'd to the owners.
NFAQ (not frequently asked questions)
you don't have to read this if you don't want to ^^
Q: Will you keep the lineart you have now?
A: Sort of. I mostly won't because in this game, I want you to have different breeds, so each breed will have their own lineart. However, some cats might have the current lineart. Maybe I'll even release growables with this lineart as well :3
Q: Are you trying to copy *insert popular website name here*?
A: No. I'm not trying to copy anything. If this is like another site, I apologize, but the idea didn't even start as an idea for a website. Please don't accuse me of stuff >.<
more may be added later...
Tell me what you think :)
If I do choose to do this it will take quite a while, probably a month or more. I know it seems very complicated, X3
